Bio

Composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist Marco Sinopoli embraces compositions of contemporary music, modern jazz and music for images in his musical production.

In 2022, he received the first prize in the "Global Music Award" for the album "Chromatic landscape", published by the "Parco della Musica" label of the Rome Auditorium, with his group "Marco Sinopoli Extradiction".

In 2023 he received the appointment of "Advisor for composition" for the American Academy of Rome, together with important composers such as Alvin Curran, Francesco Antonioni and Stewart Wallace.

 

He has received several commissions as a composer from institutions such as "Nuova Consonanza", "Macerata Arena Sferisterio", "Accademia Filarmonica Romana", "Fondazione Paolo Grassi", "Roma Sinfonietta", "Seminario de cultura Mexicana", collaborating with various formations and soloists including “Sentieri Selvaggi”, “Mexico City Wind Quintet”, “Mitja Quartet”, “Alessandro Carbonare trio”. His music has been played in Italy, Austria, Germany and Mexico. Over the years he has collaborated as a guitarist in Italy and abroad with various artists in the field of jazz and pop music, including Fabrizio Bosso, Roberto Gatto, Michele Rabbia, Nicola Stilo, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Jonathan Kreisberg, Francesco Bearzatti, Sergio Cammariere, Lino Patruno, Alessandro Gwis, Massimo Nunzi.

 

In 2018 he founded the "Marco Sinopoli Extradiction" ensemble with which he developed his own original music in a transversal jazz approach, publishing the first album "Chromatic landscape" in 2021 for the "Parco della Musica records" label, collaborating with the flautist Nicola Stilo. The release of the second album by "Marco Sinopoli Extradiction" is scheduled for 2024, for the "Parco della Musica records" label, focused on the music of Ravel. In 2019 he won the international “Macerata Opera Festival” award and the commission for the musical theater work “Can you heart me?” within the Sferisterio Festival of Macerata and Roma Europa Festival. He held several concerts during the pandemic in 2020 for the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, including the project of revisiting 20th century music pieces in collaboration with Roberto Gatto.

In 2022 he founded the "Marco Sinopoli 5et" with Simone Alessandrini, Luca Cipriano, Marco Siniscalco and Evita Polidoro, as composer, guitarist and pianist. In the same year he presented the "Cristalli" project with his compositions between modern jazz, electronic and aleatory music inside the Maxxi Museum with Michele Rabbia, Alessandro Gwis and Daphne Nisi.

At the same time, in addition to his studio work as a session musician and arranger, he composes music for theater shows, short films, advertisements and documentaries.
